First of all, I have to tell you that I just love coffee. I consider it to be the nectar of Yaweh!!! Oh the glorious bean. In fact I used to own a small coffee roasting business.
So why is Bob being such a buttinski by being a coffee nazi? A very valid question, I am glad you asked it? ;)
Bob is NOT a PERMANENT coffee nazi, I am only asking you to become coffee free during this 3 week period. After that you can do what ever you want. What I want you to experience is getting your system totally into the green zone and to feel the effects of the veggies sans caffeine. You should be well into militancy by now and going without caffeine, while difficult, is the very best way to go here.
It is also very important to understand that I do not want you to stop caffeine cold turkey. I want you to gradually ween your self off of it. I don't want you getting coffee withdrawal headaches or to feel totally drained by losing your coffee energy all at once. I would like you to take at least 4 days to get caffeine free. So cut your normal amt in half for 2 days, then split that in half on the 3rd day, then split the 3rd day amount in half for the forth day. Then on the 5th day, go caffeine free and be on your merry way.
The other issue is that for those of us that are borderline diabetic or have full blown type II, coffee should only be consumed in moderation, that is probably a max of 1 cup per day. Recent studies have shown that caffeine messes up you insulin levels and this is not good.
So what about the comfort of having a warm drink in your hand, or when you go out for coffee with others as a social occasion? Well lets fire up that Herbal Tea idea and make that work as a substitute. This morning I had 2 cups of red safari spice rooibos tea. Was it as good as coffee? No. Was it OK as a temporary substitute? Yes, absolutely. Remember we want noncaffeinated herbal teas only.
So go to the store and check out all of the possible fun herbal tea choices. There are a lot of them out there!
